The Residual Effect of Cuddling Cement, [a Soliloquy]
Then the cranes arrive;
Then the cranes arrive, arms outstretched extend into uninterrupted shadows;
Brute towers like monuments, like Washington Monuments
Steel threads entwine into a long unmerciful rope.
Somewhere, a needle moonwalks across a balance beam;
Somewhere, a vein is pricked;
Somewhere a glass plummets thirteen stories off a balcony
The glass survives, the cement beneath it cracks.
Scraps of sacraments align your pockets,
You fumble dust bunnies between fingerprints;
Sliding worry beads along an abacus
You measure the usefulness of rungless ladders.
Numbness [insert dramatic aside] is either a feeling or
A dress rehearsal for bare bones impulsiveness.
